Hello, and thanks for dropping by our web site. On this page, you can spend some time getting to know us a little better. I feel so fortunate to be working with such an amazing team of professionals who are experts in their areas and who convey such a genuine care for people.

For starters, I grew up in Sudbury, Ontario in a loving family where the importance of honest, hard work was impressed upon me. From early on, I discovered an interest in the health professions and a knack for working with my hands. These interests were nurtured by my parents and through encouragement from my childhood dentist.

After graduating with an Honours Biology degree from Laurentian University, I trekked off to Toronto and attended the University of Toronto School of Dentistry, earning my degree in 1999. Dr. Andrea Jack, DDS

Born and raised in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, Dr. Jack is a double graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Dr. Jack completed her Bachelor of Science, in the field of neuropsychology, in 1986, followed by a dental degree, with Honours, in 1990. She was privileged to be chosen to complete a year-long residency at Mount Sinai Hospital following her graduation. At Mount Sinai, Dr. Jack gained experience in general dentistry, as well as oral surgery, TMJ Clinics, anaesthesia, emergency, and even spent a month practicing dentistry in the James Bay native communities.

Dr. Jack practiced as an associate dentist in Toronto, Saskatoon & Waterloo prior to her arrival at Smileworx Dental in Oakville where she has spent the past 9 years. Veronica Parviainen, Business Assistant

Veronica joined our team in 2005 after completing the Certified Dental Receptionist degree at George Brown College.

When she’s not greeting people with her warm smile, Veronica loves to travel and mountain bike, having made several trips to South America to help coordinate cycling adventures. She’s looking forward to her next holiday when she hopes to help build a house in Vietnam.

Veronica loves being part of the Smileworx team, helping patients, and enjoying the charming downtown Oakville community.

Colleen McKinnon, Registered Dental Hygienist

Colleen’s introduction to the Smileworx team was in 2001 as a dental assistant and receptionist. Her interest in oral health prompted Colleen to return to school, earning her Registered Dental Hygiene degree in 2003 from the Canadian Institute of Dental Hygiene.

In March 2010, Colleen’s humanitarian interests took her to the Dominican Republic to provide hygiene services to remote rural villages. Be sure to check out some wonderful photos from this experience in Colleen’s treatment room next time you visit our office!

Colleen loves the impact she can have as a dental hygienist, educating and motivating our patients to achieve their optimum oral health.

Florence Pirrera, Registered Dental Hygienist

Flo joined our team in the spring of 2007. Enjoying working as a dental assistant motivated her to return to school and earn her Registered Dental Hygiene degree from the Canadian Therapeutic College in 2007.

Flo enjoys meeting new people. She feels that, young or old, everyone loves a nice healthy smile and the warmth it brings.

When she’s not caring for our patients, you can find Flo jogging or practicing yoga. Congratulations to Flo – she is expecting her first baby in June!

Elisa Romano, Certified Dental Assistant, Level II

When asked how long she has been a dental assistant, Elisa replies “Since I was 14 years old!” At a young age, she took an interest in the dental field, convincing her childhood dentist to allow her to help out at his office.

Elisa earned her Level II Dental Assisting certification from the Toronto School of Business. (We won’t say how many) years later, she is still very much enjoying her chosen field. Elisa loves getting to know our patients and helping during the procedures. Her warm and friendly personality helps our patients feel comfortable and at ease.

She spends her time away from the office with her children, swimming, fishing and gardening.

Manju Gautam, Certified Dental Assistant, Level II

Manju is the newest member of our team, having joined us in February 2011. Manju graduated from the National Academy of Health and Business with her Levell II certification in Dental Assisting. Manju also holds degrees in Math and English from her native India.

Manju loves working alongside Dr. Younger and Dr. Jack, assisting with procedures and helping our patients feel comfortable and relaxed.

In her spare time, Manju loves to read and cook. She’s always bringing in delicious food for the entire team!
